ABOUT FORMA
Forma is a thoughtfully designed pottery studio in Napa focused on slowing down, making with intention, and building community through clay. We welcome beginners and experienced makers alike, creating a space where curiosity, creativity, and process matter more than perfection.
We're in the exciting early stages of building our studio and are looking for instructors who want to help create something truly special from the ground up.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We're looking for an experienced pottery instructor who is passionate about teaching and creating a welcoming, supportive environment. At Forma, it's about more than teaching techniques—it's about helping students feel inspired, confident, and excited to return each week.
As one of Forma's founding instructors, you'll help shape the studio from the very beginning. We value collaboration and believe great studios are built together, so your ideas, experience, and perspective will play an important role as our community grows.
We're looking for someone who is patient, encouraging, organized, and excited to create a space where students, artists, and instructors all feel they belong.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach wheel throwing and/or handbuilding classes for adults and children.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
Demonstrate techniques clearly while adapting instruction to individual skill levels.
Help students build confidence through thoughtful guidance and constructive feedback.
Prepare materials and ensure the classroom is ready before each class.
Assist with loading and unloading student work as directed (kiln operation is handled by approved staff unless otherwise trained).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio throughout each class.
Follow all studio safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
Communicate supply needs and equipment concerns to studio management.
Represent Forma's values of creativity, kindness, community, and respect.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience with wheel throwing and/or handbuilding.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Friendly, dependable, and comfortable leading groups.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Passion for helping beginners feel successful and supported.
Evening and weekend availability preferred.
