Membership Policies

A shared creative space

Forma is a small, intentional studio designed to feel calm, welcoming, and cared for.

Membership is more than access to a workspace — it is becoming part of a creative community built around respect, curiosity, and making with intention. We ask all members to help maintain the atmosphere that makes the studio special.

Membership Eligibility

Open Studio memberships are designed for those who are comfortable working independently in a shared ceramics environment. Because our studio is small and community-centered, memberships are offered through an application process to ensure a good fit and preserve the experience for everyone.

If you are newer to clay, we recommend beginning with classes before moving into independent studio membership.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT & BILLING

  • New memberships require a 3-month minimum commitment.

  • Memberships renew automatically on a monthly basis. Membership fees are charged monthly.

  • Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • To cancel after the initial commitment period, written notice must be provided at least 14 days before your next billing cycle.

Community Expectations

Forma is rooted in creativity, kindness, and respect. We want this to feel like a place people return to — where faces become familiar and making becomes part of your rhythm.

Members agree to follow all studio safety guidelines, including proper use of equipment, tools, and materials.

Respect for fellow members, instructors, and staff is expected at all times.

Forma reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for unsafe behavior, misuse of equipment, or conduct that negatively impacts the studio community.

Shared Studio Care

A beautiful studio depends on everyone caring for it together.

Members are asked to:

  • Clean all tools, work areas and equipment after use

  • Return shared tools and materials to their proper place

  • Respect shared shelves and communal spaces

  • Help keep the studio quiet, clean, and welcoming

  • Follow all clay recycling and glaze procedures

STUDIO ACCESS

  • Members may reserve studio sessions according to their membership level and current studio availability.

  • Access is subject to studio hours, scheduled classes, events, maintenance, and holiday closures.

  • To ensure a quality experience for all members, session capacity may be limited.

CLAY & FIRING

  • Clay is available for purchase through Forma

  • Clay purchased through Forma includes glaze and kiln firing — there are no additional firing fees

  • Outside clay or glazes must be approved by Forma Pottery Studio before use

  • Work created with unapproved materials may not be fired

Kilns & Finished Work

Ceramics can be unpredictable, and while every effort is made to handle work carefully, Forma cannot guarantee outcomes in the kiln. Cracking, warping, glaze variation, or breakage can naturally occur during the firing process.

STORAGE

Membership includes designated storage space for work in progress and personal items. Because space is limited, members are asked to work thoughtfully and regularly rotate completed work out of the studio.

Please label all work and materials clearly. Unclaimed work or materials left beyond designated timeframes may be recycled or discarded.

EQUIPMENT USE

  • Members are responsible for proper cleanup and respectful shared use of equipment.

  • Misuse of equipment may result in suspension of privileges.

MEMBERSHIP CHANGES & POLICY UPDATES

Studio policies may evolve as Forma grows.

Members will be notified of significant updates. Continued use of the studio constitutes acceptance of current policies.

GUESTS

Membership is intended for individual use; however, members are welcome to bring one guest to the studio once per calendar quarter as part of a supervised guest visit.

Guests may only attend during designated studio sessions and must complete any required waivers prior to participating.

Members are responsible for ensuring their guest follows all studio guidelines and safety procedures. Additional guest visits may be available through drop-in sessions or special events.

Membership is a privilege, not an entitlement. We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue memberships that repeatedly disregard studio policies or negatively affect the experience of others.
