Studio Policies

Forma Pottery Studio is a shared creative space. These policies are designed to keep the studio safe, welcoming, organized, and enjoyable for everyone who spends time here.

By registering for a class, workshop, studio session, private experience, or membership, you agree to the policies below.

Studio Etiquette

Please treat the studio, equipment, instructors, and other makers with care and respect.

  • Clean your workspace, tools, and equipment after use.

  • Return communal tools and materials to their designated areas.

  • Be mindful of shared equipment and studio space.

  • Children must follow instructor directions and studio safety guidelines.

  • Disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior may result in removal from the studio.

Forma reserves the right to suspend studio access when necessary to maintain a safe and respectful environment.

Studio Safety

Ceramics involves tools, equipment, materials, and kilns that require care.

Please follow all posted studio guidelines and instructor directions. Members and independent studio users are expected to understand basic ceramic studio safety and equipment procedures before working independently.

Only authorized Forma staff may load, unload, operate, or adjust studio kilns.

Food and beverages should be kept away from clay work areas whenever possible. Please help us minimize clay dust by cleaning with wet methods and avoiding sweeping dry clay.

Clay & Materials

Clay used at Forma must be purchased through the studio unless outside clay has been approved in advance.

Studio clay pricing includes standard glazing and firing.

Outside clay, glazes, underglazes, or other ceramic materials must be approved by Forma before use. Additional firing fees may apply.

Unapproved materials may not be fired in Forma kilns.

Glazing & Firing

Ceramics are inherently unpredictable. Cracking, warping, glaze variation, kiln damage, and other unexpected results are a natural part of the ceramic process.

While we take care when handling and firing your work, Forma cannot guarantee the outcome of any piece.

Forma is not responsible for:

  • Cracking or warping

  • Glaze defects or unexpected glaze results

  • Breakage during firing

  • Kiln accidents

  • Damage caused by improper construction or glazing

Refunds or credits cannot be issued for damaged or unsuccessful ceramic work.

Forma reserves the right not to fire work that may pose a risk to studio equipment, kiln shelves, other work, or the kiln itself.

Finished Work & Pick-Up

Students will be notified when finished work is ready for collection.

Because storage space is limited, completed pieces should be picked up promptly. Work left beyond the studio's designated pick-up period may be donated or discarded.

Please allow approximately 2 to 3 weeks for work to move through the drying, bisque, glazing, and firing process. Timing may vary depending on kiln schedules and the needs of individual pieces.

Classes & Workshops

Registration is for the specific class, workshop, or series selected at the time of booking.

Please arrive on time so instructors can begin class as scheduled.

Multi-week classes build from week to week. If you miss a session, make-up classes are not guaranteed and may only be offered at Forma's discretion and when space allows.

Registration cannot be transferred to another series once a multi-week series has begun.

Forma classes require minimum enrollment to run. If minimum enrollment is not reached, Forma may cancel or reschedule the class. Participants will be offered a refund, studio credit, or transfer to another available class.

Children's Classes

Parents or guardians are responsible for providing accurate emergency contact and participant information when registering a minor.

Parents are welcome to stay for designated children's classes or drop off their child when the class allows.

Children participating without a parent present must be able to follow instructor directions and participate safely in a group environment.

If a child is unable to participate safely or requires one-on-one supervision beyond what the class can reasonably provide, Forma may ask a parent or guardian to remain with the child or pick them up.

Memberships & Independent Studio Use

Members and independent studio users are expected to work safely and independently, understand studio procedures, and clean their workspace thoroughly after each session.

All studio sessions must be reserved in advance through Forma's booking system.

Membership does not include clay. Clay is purchased through Forma and includes standard firing.

Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing at least 14 days before the next billing date.

No refunds or credits are provided for unused studio time, missed sessions, or early cancellation during an initial membership commitment period.

Additional membership-specific policies may apply.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change. As a small studio with limited class sizes, our cancellation policies allow us time to offer available spaces to other participants.

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to hello@formanapa.com.
