Forma is a small, intentional studio designed to feel calm, welcoming, and cared for.

Membership goes beyond simply having access to a place to work. Members become part of a creative community centered on respect, curiosity, and intentional making, and everyone is expected to contribute to maintaining that atmosphere.

Membership Eligibility

Open Studio memberships are intended for ceramicists who are comfortable working independently in a shared studio environment.

Because Forma is a small, community-focused studio, membership is offered through an application process. This helps ensure that members are a good fit for the space and that the overall studio experience is preserved.

Those who are newer to ceramics are encouraged to begin with Forma classes before transitioning into independent studio membership.

Membership Commitment & Billing

• New memberships require a 3-month minimum commitment.

• Memberships automatically renew monthly, with membership fees charged each month.

• Memberships cannot be transferred to another person and are non-refundable.

• After completing the initial commitment, members who wish to cancel must provide written notice at least 14 days before their next billing cycle.

Community Expectations

Forma is built around creativity, kindness, and respect. The goal is to create a studio people want to return to, where members get to know one another and making becomes part of their regular rhythm.

Members are expected to follow all studio safety guidelines and use equipment, tools, and materials appropriately.

Respectful behavior toward fellow members, instructors, and staff is required.

Forma may suspend or terminate a membership because of unsafe behavior, equipment misuse, or conduct that negatively affects the studio community.

Shared Studio Care

Maintaining a beautiful studio is a shared responsibility.

Members are expected to:

• Clean tools, equipment, and workspaces after use.

• Return communal tools and materials to their designated locations.

• Respect communal areas and shared shelving.

• Help maintain a quiet, clean, and welcoming studio environment.

• Follow Forma's procedures for clay recycling and glaze use.

Studio Access

• Members may reserve studio sessions based on their membership level and available studio capacity.

• Access may be affected by regular studio hours, scheduled classes and events, maintenance, and holiday closures.

• Session capacity may be limited to maintain a comfortable and high-quality studio experience.

Clay & Firing

• Clay is available for purchase directly through Forma.

• Clay purchased from Forma includes glazing and kiln firing, so there are no additional firing fees.

• Any outside clay or glazes must receive approval from Forma Pottery Studio before being used.

• Forma may decline to fire work made with materials that have not been approved.

Kilns & Finished Work

Ceramics inherently involves some unpredictability. Forma takes care when handling members' work but cannot guarantee the results of kiln firing.

Cracking, warping, glaze variations, breakage, and similar changes can naturally happen during firing.

Storage

Membership includes designated storage for works in progress and members' personal items.

Because studio storage is limited, members should use their space thoughtfully and regularly remove completed work from the studio.

All work and materials should be clearly labeled. Items that remain unclaimed beyond the studio's designated timeframes may eventually be recycled or discarded.

Equipment Use

• Members are responsible for using equipment respectfully and cleaning it properly after use.

• Improper or inappropriate equipment use may result in suspension of equipment privileges.

Membership Changes & Policy Updates

Forma's policies may change as the studio evolves.

Members will be informed when significant policy changes are made. Continuing to use the studio after a policy update indicates acceptance of the current policies.

Guests

Memberships are intended for individual use. Members may, however, bring one guest once per calendar quarter for a supervised studio visit.

Guests may participate only during designated studio sessions and must complete any required waivers before participating.

Members are responsible for making sure their guests follow Forma's safety procedures and studio guidelines.

Members who would like to bring guests more frequently may have additional opportunities through drop-in studio sessions or special events.

Membership Standing

Membership at Forma is a privilege rather than an entitlement.

Forma reserves the right to suspend or discontinue memberships when studio policies are repeatedly disregarded or when a member's behavior negatively affects the experience of others.
